The first day of DreamHack Open Atlanta has come to an end, and here's a quick recap of the action with Renegades and Heroic topping their respective groups.
DreamHack Open Atlanta kicked off with the opening match for group A with HellRaisers capturing the first win of the day over Binary Dragons 16-10 on Cache, following Patrik "Zero" Žúdel's triple AK-47 kill to secure match point.
In group B's opening match, Envy decimated Allan "AnJ" Jensen's new team NRG, 16-5 on Cache, unable to stop the human tank Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, who finished the match with a 2.08 rating.
Renegades secure their playoffs spot
Renegades went on to top group A, following their opening win against the NA Qualifier winner's Misfits, 16-9 on Mirage. The Aussies then duked it out with HellRaisers, where Justin "jks" Savage's men had an explosive 6-nil start on the T-side before Zero's quad-kill from connector secured them a comeback and a second pistol round, pushing the CIS roster to a 13-8 lead. However, two impactful rounds from Noah "Nifty" Francis including a 1v1 clutch, closed the gap at 13-13, which saw Renegades reverse the lead and secure their playoffs spot in the 16-14 thriller.
